Price for cigarettes in Latvia

Several years ago the government of Latvia prohibitted smoking in public places. This law refers to both residents and tourists. In this country people are responsible for this problem and new laws about smoking often appear in order to reduce the amount of smoking people.

First of all, it’s important to know that is it prohibitted to smoke in public places. Residents don’t usually  like people who smoke.You can get a fine for smoking in a wrong place. A tourist will not find a place to smoke in restaurants and bars. The only place where he can smoke is a summer café where there is a special mark. If a person smokes in a wrong place, he will be fined for at least 100 dollars.

In Latvia cigarettes cost from 3 to 7 dollars that’s why smoking people import cigarettes. You can import only 40 cigarettes or 2 packs.

People in Latvia are very serious about smoking. That’s why if a police officer notices a smoking tourist, I doubt whether he’ll just give a warning.
